New York, February 23, 2018 – Vanguard Service Brigade International (VSB) was honored to participate in the 2018 UNA-USA Global Engagement Summit at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The summit, formerly known as “Members’ Day at the UN,” brought together global advocates, thought leaders, and change-makers to discuss critical international issues and the role of the United Nations in addressing them.
The VSB delegation actively engaged in discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions, focusing on key topics such as human rights advocacy and the use of technology for social good. The event served as a crucial platform for fostering partnerships and strengthening our commitment to humanitarian efforts that align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Key Contributions by Vanguard Service Brigade at the Summit:
- Advocating for Human Rights: As part of the Stand Up for Human Rights action track, the VSB team participated in discussions celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We explored best practices for promoting human rights through local advocacy, private sector engagement, and grassroots partnerships.
- Leveraging Technology for Social Good: VSB took part in conversations about harnessing digital tools and social media to drive social impact, particularly in areas such as climate action, political justice, and humanitarian relief.
- Strengthening Global Networks: By engaging with UN representatives, policymakers, and fellow advocates, VSB reaffirmed its role as an active contributor to global development initiatives and civic engagement strategies.
This summit highlighted how grassroots organizations like Vanguard Service Brigade International play a vital role in bringing global commitments to local action. As part of our ongoing mission, we continue to collaborate with international partners to promote social justice, human rights, and sustainable development.
